The
National Safe Kids Campaign
is now Safe Kids Worldwide. This evolution reflects the union of the nearly
two-decade-old Safe Kids grassroots network in the United States with the
burgeoning international Safe Kids movement, each with the mission of
preventing accidental injuries to children ages 14 and under. More than
450 coalitions in 16 countries bring together health and safety experts,
educators, corporations, foundations, governments and volunteers to educate
and protect families. The organization was founded in 1987 by Children's
National Medical Center with support from Johnson & Johnson.
Safe Kids North Central Florida brings together more than 50 organizations and
individuals in eight counties who are concerned about childhood injury prevention.
Our mission is to provide education, programming and awareness about preventable
injuries. The local coalition’s efforts are led by Shands Children’s Hospital at
the University of Florida with funding provided in large part by the Children’s
Miracle Network.
