Shands Magnolia Celebrates Grand Opening

Shands Magnolia Plaza celebrated it’s grand opening with a large community safety event. Many vendors attended to help both children and parents learn about safety and injury prevention. Safe Kids CPS Educator - Morya Willis - educated parents on car seat safety, new seal belt laws for Florida and general injury prevention information. Safe Kids Director - Debora Regan - educated children on summer safety and tips on how to keep safe during the summer. Children decorated events sacks with safety messages and safety stickers and received reflective tags, crayons, activity books and a variety of other safety items. Safe Kids also provided 500 bicycle helmets for children. "Bicycle helmets are a necessity, not an accessory! Helmets can reduce head injuries by 85%," stated Debora Regan, Director of Safe Kids.

All who attended enjoyed seeing the Shands Helicoptor, fire engines, and dozens of interactive booths with safety activities.
