What is Safe Kids?

Safe Kids is part of the Safe Kids Worldwide, which was founded in 1987 with the goal of preventing unintentional childhood injuries. Safe Kids is led by Shands Children's Hospital Click here to visit the Children's Miracle Network Onlineof the University of Florida, and is comprised of public, private, voluntary organizations, as well as individuals.

Safe Kids is funded in large part by the Children's Miracle Network.

Safe Kid Facts

• Drowning — 2nd leading cause of unintentional injury related deaths of children ages 14 & under, taking more than 1,000 children's lives each year
• Every day, more than 39,000 children are injured seriously enough to require medical treatment, totaling more than 14 million children each year.
